Nexuiz 1.5 released

Everyone’s favourite GPL 3D-shoot-em-up, Nexuiz, has been updated to version 1.5! There are no available patches, I’m afraid, since they’ve redone alot of things, so you’re going to have to download the entire 180MB over again. Changes include:

  • Many new gamemodes, new maps, new characters
  • "Instant Action" button in menu
  • More Advanced AI
  • Redo of all the character skins (pant/shirt color like Quake1)
  • Completely new menu
  • Majority of sound effects redone
  • Smoother netcode
  • Engine optimizations

Got a crappy DL speed now, 16% thru, so I won’t be able to try it out tonighthave changed alot! This is definitely a totally new game, appealing more to quake 1 fans. If you take a look at these screenshots I took (Nexuiz @ 800x600x16 without effects and in Chase View) you get the deal. It’s still a kewl game, but it’s something completely different, and looking more like a finished, commercial product than the previous release. There are a few problems that I might be able to tweak out. My challenges are: removing the weapon, removing the textures, fine-tuning speed (now it seems to move slower than previos) and turn off all sound effects. If I want to have some gay heavy metal voice telling me I’ve just killed three people, I can take care of it on my own, thanks.

Now I need some food, asap. See you around.

I am too a geek

First post in this new section, where I’ll mostly focus on what you need to know if you think it’s important to know what I think is important to know about computers, the internets, and stuff like that. You shouldn’t complain about it, since it’s only 1 out of 10 categories, whereas all categories at /. involves technology.
