history

crescent is a norwegian punk/rock/grunge band.. We started in the summer of '99, me (Sigge) and Kornelius was planning to establish a band together. Both he and I had played in bands before (he in 'Blendwerk' & 'Blendwerk u/Jøran', and I in 'Unzipped'), but we were hoping to get a little further with this as our backgrounds. Then we'd to wait till the beginning of the schoolyear, we had no bassplayer. I convinced Kornelius that my friend Christian wanted to play in our band, and I convinced him too that this was what he wanted. So he joined, and Kornelius' grandfather lent us a flat where we could reherseal, and we did. Kornelius taught Chris the basics of bass, then we played some Nirvana and some other things. We tend to make our own versions of them coversongs, and we got pretty good @ 'pennyroyal tea' VERY fast:). This was the autumn of '99. As you can see on the picture, it was a small flat (the picture shows half the room!!), and all the equipment we used was private. Luckily I had my own drumset, Kornelius had his guitar (of course) and Chris had his money...

We decided to try out making our own songs from scratch, 'cause Kornelius had been fed up with 'covers'. I agreed, so we made our first song, which was to become our 'hit': Sober an' Confused. A very simple song, inspired by punk and grunge music. Those were the days of anarchy! Later we've discovered how hard this song really is to play. Then followed the balad-like imodium which we made for them ladies. On the 11th of february we was going to have our FIRST gig, and the best is yet to come-almost noone had heard of us. Before the gig, we'd also been making more songs, like the 'heavy' K.I.A among others. After the gig, we heard none but good critics, as of now crescent was on the map:)
